Taking a day trip around 3 islands in the Dalmatian region is something everyone should try. We booked a boat cruise on a reconstructed historic galleon to see what all the fuss was about and hey what’s better than seeing Croatia on a Tuesday. You see there are boats everywhere and many are booked out by tourists in the summer.

Depending on the boat you are served drinks (red wine) and a whole cooked fish. I can’t say I was a fan of the fish looking at me from the plate so I stuck with the red wine.

First stop was island of Kolocep, where forests of pine and carob trees, lemon and orange gardens and groves of olives await you but really there isn’t much to do here. Listening to local musicians we continued to Šipan, the largest of the Elaphiti islands.

So while the rest of the boat walked to nearby church Alastair and I enjoyed drinks & fresh seafood at a local restaurant. Next town was Lopud, where we had 2.5 hours to swim in the Adriatic Sea and check out the island.

We started walking to the other side but decided it was too far and caught a golf buggy over for 40 kuna per person.

Swimming was not really an option and little cold for that and plus by the time we got back to the ship we were already drunk on red wine and Al passed out. What a way to spend a Tuesday!
