We arrived in Dubrovnik Croatia on Sunday 9th September 2012. We just finish our cruise around the med with Al’s parents. The first night we stayed at the hotel Ivka in Lapad (10 min from the old city). We have an apartment booked for 3 months in Lapad, which we move into tomorrow. The apartment is cosy, from the outside it looks like we live in the getto but really inside it’s very comfortable. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, lounge, great kitchen all for €2400 for 3 months!

It is a great apartment with two bedrooms, fast Wi-Fi, secure and under floor heating that is an absolute must if you come to Croatia in winter.

We have a shopping centre (Tommys) across the road perfect for stocking up on ‘Sara’ biscuits.

The gym is a 10min walk down the popular pedestrian strip, which leads you to the beach. We arrived on the edge of the tourist season and Dubrovnik was busy with foreigners.

The first 3 weeks here Al and I worked and didn’t really leave the apartment. We were working hard on our website before the House Hunters show aired in America on the 5th October and we wanted the site ready! When we moved to Croatia we both decided to work hard and focus. So we only did a handful of trips around this beautiful place but mainly stayed indoors.

We did do some sightseeing – walking around the old town of Dubrovnik. We found some very cool wine bars and cafes on the wall. After reading so much about the food here in Croatia were very excited to have fresh seafood on a daily basis.

But it wasn’t to be, we ate at Moby Dicks restaurant in the old town and for the price decided we might start cooking at home for a while. The food wasn’t the greatest and was probably the one thing that let us down after coming from Italy. It took another 2 weeks before eating out again.

Now in mid October the town has died down and the rain is coming. Apparently coming into winter it rains here daily and it’s already started to get quite cold. However these pics were taken just before the cold weather set in.
